Officially

I’ve decided on a thumbs up for the new Jenny Lewis album (although it’s still very 70s).  This took me four listens though.

Plus, I have the new Kate Atkinson half finished (and really, is there anything more wonderful and also awful than being halfway through a book you want to savor?)

And I finally made a decision about New Year’s Eve - the redline to downtown.  Minimal driving, decadent cocktails, sore feet, but people out and about.

Resolving

Too be braver this year.  To be kinder this year.  To let less of the sarcasm scratch across my loved ones.  To have a cleaner house and a cleaner track record of choices, decisions, and actions.

Also, to listen to something new every week. To meet someone new every week. And to not worry about liking or disliking the results of either resolution.

Things I've Learned

1. Yes, running out of gas in the middle of a busy street is just as mortifying/terrifying as you think it will be.  Being that stupid?  Always a surprise.

2. Rockband really is that awesome.  The drums really were that much fun.  My voice is that terrible, and “Baba O’Reilly” really does only have five lines of lyrics.

3. Donate - time, money, canned goods, effort, goodwill, what have you.  All of this is down nationwide and people need it now more than ever.  Need a location? http://www.lafightshunger.org/.  We helped box up food for seniors. The food bank has had to reduce the number of seniors it can help by 2000 people.  So donate.

4.  The Association downtown is my new favorite bar.  Too bad they don’t have a website yet.
