Today in California World
Things I did today:
1. Bought a romper. Shut up. I had to get it out of my system.
2. Wore a total hipster outfit of slightly age inappropriate flowered dress, tights and jazz shoes/oxfords.
3. Discovered TheBloggess.com (I swear to god I have no idea how I lived without this blog before now). Shari, we are making that giant chicken thing happen.
4. Tried to figure out if I could write a torch song based on the This American Life episode I’m listening to about break-ups. I think writing a torch song is no worse than the terrible break-up poetry I’ve written over the years, and might at least be funny. Or moving, or at least rhythmic.
5. Got posting access for LAist.com, which is super exciting in many ways, but means that instead of just blithely sending stuff to my editor, I have to read and absorb the rules. I hate rules. But I like writing for LAist, so it evens out.
6. Daydreamed about the “Death Reviver” we had last night at The Association, which is a modern version (dreamed up by the bartender) of the Corpse Reviver (available at Westside Tavern, but I don’t know where else). It was made with white whiskey.
7. Pretended I was the sort of person who had the attention span to make tinctures (or the ability to let perfectly good booze sit in a corner for months, undrunk).
8. Realized how spoiled we are in So Cal, because today was utterly gorgeous, the first truly nice day we’ve had (in So Cal terms) and it just turned us all into big balls of happy (and unmotivated).
9. Planned out my evening to incorporate a glass of wine, but also plenty of sleep as tomorrow is 2 miles of running at 7 a.m. I need to remember how to get up and run, even if that run is only 2 miles.
